Pilot Sites

We have 3 sites in the central Kentucky area which were selected for their innovative programs and which are piloting the Early Childhood Outcomes Initiative process.

They include:

Anderson County Early Childhood Center in Lawrenceburg , KY :

The Anderson County Early Childhood Center is located at 126 N. Main Street in Lawrenceburg , KY , 40342 . The school is a progressive site which includes preschool and kindergarten classes as well as a Family Resource Center , school nurse, Regional Training Center , full-day kindergarten, wrap-around daycare, and a Parent Teacher Organization. The preschool program is NAEYC accredited, uses the High Scope curriculum, and the Building Blocks model for literacy. The school includes 9 preschool classes and uses HighScope.net for assessment.

Growing Together Preschool in Lexington , KY :

Growing Together Preschool, Inc. (GTP) is a private, non-profit, NAEYC-accredited agency located at 599 Lima Drive in Lexington , KY , 40511 . The program is an inclusive, developmental preschool which integrates the lives and experiences of children who are typically developing and those who have special needs, from birth through four years of age. Each child receives quality child care from trained professionals. Services include early intervention for infants and toddlers, a comprehensive developmental program for preschoolers, and an academic readiness program for pre-kindergarten students. GTP uses the Creative Curriculum for all of their students and is a field test site for the Creative Curriculum's Developmental Continuum for Infants and Toddlers. Bluegrass First Steps Developmental Interventionists Cynthia Pendergrast and Dixie Miller:

Cynthia Pendergrast is a Developmental Interventionist who is employed by Horn, Richardson , and Associates, a rehabilitation group located at 2412 Greatstone Point in Lexington , KY , 40504 . Cynthia has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Special Education and has many years of diverse teaching experiences. She currently works with children and families in their homes and community settings. She also leads a play group for two-year-olds at the center. Dixie Miller is an independent Developmental Interventionist who teaches children aged birth to three years who have varied special needs. She has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Special Education and several additional certifications. She visits children in their homes, schools, and day cares in the central KY area. She also teaches a preschool class for four-year-olds and has a child who receives early intervention services. Dixie uses the Carolina Curriculum with her students. Training on the use of HighScope.net was conducted for the Anderson County Early Childhood Early Childhood Center (one of the GSEG pilot sites) staff on August 22, 2005. Chris Boisvert, trainer from High/Scope Educational Foundation, presented on the various uses of HighScope.net for classroom teachers and administrators.
