Strengthening the connections between classroom instruction and AA-AAS for students with significant cognitive disabilities
Pacific GSEG Institute, Tumon, Guam
Mike Burdge, Jean Clayton, Anne Denham will work with Guam CEDDERS to conduct a week long institute. The sessions will focus on instructional improvement, Universal Design for Learning, providing appropriate supports, and building communication skills for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Teams from Guam, Northern Marianna Islands, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, and American Samoa will participate.

How to Do It All: Embedding Functional Skills Within the Instruction of Academic Curriculum
2009 Low Incidence Institute at Penn State, State College, PA
Building on the training provided in the stepwise process, this session will focus on strategies and practices for embedding functional skills within the instruction of academic content. The session will examine functional vs. academic curriculum, as well as how to acquire strategies for embedding functional skills within academic instruction.
