Foreword

This product was developed through a grant from the Kentucky Developmental Disabilities Planning Council to the Kentucky Department of Education. The mission of the Kentucky Developmental Disabilities Planning Council is to cause change in the developmental disabilities service/support system resulting in the opportunity for all Kentuckians with developmental disabilities to live, work, and play in the community and environment of their choice.

Kentucky Classrooms: Everyone's Welcome addresses how Kentucky's schools can be welcoming places for all students through carefully planned inclusive education programs. This guide is the work of a Task Force made up of parents of students with disabilities from all regions of Kentucky, regular and special educators, and administrators experienced in the development of inclusive programs. The Task Force acknowledges the work of all those who contributed to this document, including the parents, teachers, and administrators who furnished the stories; the photographer, Jeff Mohr; and Cathy Callaway, who worked many hours to format and edit the final product.
