Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (K-CHIP)

What is K-CHIP?

K-CHIP (Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program) offers medical coverage for those children who do not qualify for Medicaid and whose family income does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Line. Services include but are not limited to: Health, dental, vision, and hearing coverage, well child care and special services.

There is no current waiting list for this program.

Does my child qualify for K-CHIP?

Must be less than 19 years of age.

Must not be eligible for Medicaid.

Must not have had health insurance for at least six months.

Must not have voluntarily dropped child's insurance within the past 6 months.

Family income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line.

How do I apply?

Contact the K-CHIP Program, Department for Medicaid Services where eligibility and services are determined by the local offices in the counties where the applicants reside:
