The effects of the Preservice project have proven to be far reaching. In 2005, the project was one of 23 selected by University of Kentucky President Lee T. Todd Jr. as a Commonwealth Collaborative, because of the project’s potential impact upon health care for our state’s citizens. Approximately 1,000 students have been through the training thus far, and the modules have also been used in Great Britain.
Moreover, we have found that the Preservice Health Training Modules have value as continuing education vehicles. The PHT dental modules are now on the American Dental Association’s website for CME credits for its members and the physician assistant modules have been placed on the American Academy of Physician Assistant for its members as well. All of the modules will soon be available for web-based training.
Finally, HDI staff are presently working with staff from the KY Department of Health to make these modules available to over 4,000 medical professionals across the Commonwealth, through the Department of Health’s electronic training system (TRAIN).
