Background  

The goal of Kentucky's increased investments in early childhood staff professional development is increased quality in Kentucky's early childhood programs. As a result, our focus is shifting from training as an end result (e.g., how many trainings are conducted, how many participants, etc.) to a performance approach to training, which emphasizes the transfer of training to the early childhood workplace.

In August 2000, as a component of KIDS Now, the Early Childhood Development Authority accepted the recommendations of the Professional Development Council and the Credentials Work Group, establishing a new Early Childhood Trainer’s Credential.
