DCC Approved ECE-TRIS Information for New Credentialed Trainers

About ECE-TRIS
The Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Division of Child Care has contracted with the University Training Consortium at Eastern Kentucky University to design and develop a centralized database to track early care and education training in Kentucky. This database, ECE-TRIS (Early Care and Education Training Records Information System) is intended to meet the training record-keeping requirement as stated in 922 KAR 2:240, the Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer’s Credential and Training Approval regulation.

Goals of ECE-TRIS
•   Identify training sessions
•   Identify who is conducting training sessions (training agencies and credentialed trainers)
•   Promote ownership of personal training records
•   24-hour access to training records
•   Reporting features for participants, trainers, facility directors and training agencies

Credentialed Trainer Role in ECE-TRIS
•   As a Kentucky Early Care and Education Credentialed Trainer, you are required to keep training session and participant information, per 922 KAR 2:240, the Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer’s Credential and Training Approval regulation. This information should be collected either during the training registration period prior to a training session or during the training session.

•   When training through a training agency, you should speak to the training director or coordinator before the training session to discuss your role in collecting and entering information into ECE- TRIS. As a trainer, it is your responsibility to ensure all training session information is entered into ECE-TRIS.

•   Currently, independent trainers should collect training and participant information using the ECE- TRIS forms online, at https://tris.eku.edu/ece, and send the completed forms to ECE-TRIS after the conclusion of the training session. ECE-TRIS will then process the training session and participant information for you.
