Kentucky's Continuous Assessment Training Sessions
In 2003 the KIDS NOW Initiative developed and distributed Building
a Strong Foundation for School Success: Kentucky's Early Childhood Standards,
to be used by all early care and education providers as well as by
parents.
The second manual in a series of three, Building a Strong
Foundation for School Success: Kentucky's Early Childhood Continuous Assessment
Guide, was later completed and is being introduced across the state.
The second manual provides guidance to early childhood programs regarding appropriate
methods and instruments for assessing young children's progress towards
meeting the Early Childhood Standards and for evaluating early childhood
programs. Both manuals can be accessed and downloaded at www.kidsnow.ky.gov.
To assist in using the Continuous Assessment Guide, the
Training Into Practice Project (TIPP), in collaboration with the Division
of Child Care, Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and the Division
of Early Childhood Development, Kentucky Department of Education, offers the following
three training modules:
Classroom/Instructional Assessment
Screening
Authentic Methods for Assessing Young Children
Each module is 7 clock hours in length and is offered regionally
across the state.
